why don’t you get a virus checker?
like Norton or one care they work rather good.

Turn your pop up blocker on. Or if you mean the ads on the side or top or bottom of the screen, you cant stop that! people pay money for those to be there, all you can do is ignore them.

just get your computer a spyware like KASPERSKY! it automatically rejects the pop-ups and keeps your window sweep-ed all the time!
i would stop going on any sites that questionable (maybe its not safe) and i would buy a firewall make sure that you are fully protective! i know those are annoying. but i got a firewall and it works!
Nina, have a look under ‘tools’ on Internet Explorer. If it’s not already enabled, enable it!
hi,
on top of your computer the toolbar a 5 over from your mail, click settings, look under the letter P for pop up controls…….click on turn off web pop ups, then go to the next tab and do the same and then go to aol pop ups and do that one too…..
hit apply save or apply ok
are they only coming up when you open your web browser?
if so get mozilla or safari web browser, they are much safer than internet explorer
if the pop ups come up randomly while you’re not using the internet
then you still have a virus in your pc
download avg security
there is a free version and it is very helpful in tracking and deleting trojans and viruses

There is free malware software. Go to http://www.download.com and download Ad-aware and Spybot Search and Destroy. Those two will cover a lot of your issues. Make sure your firewall is on for your browser (I think Mozilla Firefox is the best). Consider paying $ 60 a year for McAfee anti-virus software, although it can be a little invasive on your system.
Alas, there is no blanket “2 click-fix” everyone would love, and the bad guys know most users keep ‘out-of-the-box’ browsers & OS configurations which can be compromised quite easily.
Try malwarebytes to start cleaning up your system:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html
(‘System Restore’ may have to be turned off for effective cleaning).
Don’t let these parasites into your system in the first place! Proactive defensive measures help stop these guys on your doorstep and keep ’em out. The following tips help, but methods (vectors) constantly change.

FIREFOX: Tools> Options> Privacy: Check ‘Accept Cookies from sites’
& Un-Check ‘Accept 3rd Party cookies’
With these add-on’s:
♦♦♦”NoScript” for Firefox will stop a lot of this adware/spyware & hijackers; and is THE single most important thing you can do to prevent most script based malware suppositories ♦♦♦

With “NS” running, down on the far right corner is a blue ‘S’ with a red line through it: right click that> tick ‘forbid (whatever)’ &/or mark as ‘untrusted’.
(Ticking all may reduce interactive behavior; enable just enough to get what’s necessary to view the page, on a ‘temporarily allow’ basis)
Flashblock: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433
Adblock Plus works pretty good too: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 (make sure to utilize the ‘Subscriptions’ from ABP ‘Preferences’ tab & look in ABP > Preferences> Filters> Add filter subscription> “View All Subscriptions” link @ top of window> (on the new window, select those which you’d like to add)> follow prompts.
The list is long…look for any that will help your browse sessions be ‘cleaner’.
*Fresh exploit: “Super Cookie” threat (or Persistent 3rd party cookie); https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6623

INTERNET EXPLORER: Tools> Internet Options> Privacy> Advanced:
here check ‘Override automatic….’; ‘Allow session cookies’; ‘Allow 1st party cookies’ & ‘Block 3rd Party Cookies’.
Using IE (all flavors) and allowing “active scripting” is the single biggest mistake people make. “Drive by installs”, “Opacity based attacks”, and many other malware problems arise from this feature alone…(switch to Firefox).
And, get this installed: “HOSTS file” (from mvps.org) which blocks evil webpage assets from re-directs which install malware or trashware. (Vista requires special instructions; on-page link)

Rouge malware and escalating server based spyware are becoming indistinguishable & may cause system misbehavior .
Requires “Opt Out” on EVERY browser on EVERY machine.
Google here: http://www.google.com/privacy_ads.html
Yahoo here: http://info.yahoo.com/relevantads/
Turn off ‘spell check’ may help, as this sends keystrokes back to the server also, which may be used to ‘target’ advertising.
When installing ANY new application, check the EULA or ToS for ‘Toolbars’ and/or other crud they try to slip past ya’.
Good luck. 😉
Download and run these tools:
Spybot Search & Destroy
Ad-Aware
AVG AntiVirus
SpywareBlaster
SpyBot Search and Destroy has real time protection and is one of the best on the market.
However, Malwarebytes is my favorite.
In order to ensure proper removal of virus’s, spyware, trojans, worms, etc you should always follow the steps outlined below.
This will guarantee a clean install of your software solution.
Reboot in safe mode with networking.
Turn off System Restore to prevent re-infection from infected restore points.
To get into Safe Mode with Networking: <--Extremely Important! 1. Turn off system restore 2. Log out and reboot your machine. 3. When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly. 4. Select Safe Mode with Networking from the resulting menu. 5. Install your software (anti malware /antivirus/etc) Always run a full scan and follow all recommendations from the scan results. I use and recommend the following programs, there are others but these are great for the average user, easy to use and free. Malwarebytes AntiMalware http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
