Okay so I’m really into Astrology and I’m trying to figure out my prominent planets?
I have a Libra Sun
I would just like to know what are my ruling planets.

You didn’t give us the information we need to answer your question, but I will try to help:
First, understand that your Rising Sign is not a planet.
It is, quite literally, whatever sign was rising on the eastern horizon at the time and place of your birth. It is the cusp of your First House, and so it represents not your inner personality, but just your superficial social mask that you put on when you are not totally comfortable in a social situation (which is about 100% of the time).
We ARE our planets. Each of the planets represents a different facet of our personality, a different inner need.
And the goal of astrology is to help you connect with ALL the factors in your chart. Not to pick out the strongest, and not to use your chart to tell YOU who you are. Instead, the chart is supposed to be used to raised questions about how you might function internally .. and then, as you go about your day, you are supposed to observe yourself with awareness and attention to see if the chart is right or not.
If you are focusing on ruling planets, you are cutting yourself off from the rest of your personality. And a “ruling planet” is really a matter of degree .. a matter of how strong it is vs. others that might not be as strong in your personality. It’s really a bad term, this “ruling planet” and it gets people going down the wrong track.
Now, as far as dominant planets, this is not determined by the signs.
In order of strongest to weakest dominance, look for:
(1) Any angular planet that is involved in a major theme: For instance, Neptune angular conjunct the Ascendant, Sun in Pisces, Moon square Neptune …. this makes Neptune-needs overwhelmingly dominant in the personality.
(2) The Focal Planet of a T-square
(3) Any planet that is “angular” (conjunct any of the 4 Angles of the chart … in this instance, we are not talking about angular/succeedent/cadent house position. A planet can be in a cadent house BUT be conjunct the Angle. The Angles are the M.C., the Ascendant, the I.C., the Descendant.)
(4) The most-aspected planet in the chart
(5) Any planet involved in a Major Aspect Configuration (T-square, Grand Trine, Grand Cross)
(6) The ruling planet of a stellium-by-sign (especially if it is a 4-planet stellium)
(7) The chart ruler (the planet that rules the Ascendant)
(8) The Sun and the Moon
Also useful is to look at how strong the Elements and Qualities are in your chart.
For each Element, give it one point for each planet IN that Element, plus 1 point if the Midheaven or Ascendant is in that Element. Exception: Sun and Moon get 2 points instead of 1.
Do the same for the Qualities.
You might find, for instance that you are strongly Fire and Fixed .. even though you have NO planets IN Fire-Fixed (which is Leo). But just by having a strong Fire-Fixed orientation, you would have some Leo qualities in your personality. We call this the “signature” of the chart.
Normally, though, we usually have planets, and more planets, IN that “signature”.
Aspects are the most important part of the chart, btw. The aspects between planets show you how those needs interact with each other . .perhaps your relationship style (Venus) conflicts (square aspect) with your emotional style (Moon). This can happen even when the signs these two planets are in, are compatible signs. The square aspect means that the two needs work against each other .. when you are meeting your emotional needs it screws up your relationships, and vice versa. And the sign-placement of the two planets just pin-points HOW it does this.
Yet, if you have a harmonious aspects between Venus and Moon – say a trine aspect – when you are expressing your emotions true to yourself, it actually HELPS your social and romantic relationship needs get met.
When examining a chart, always look for the strongest aspects (which will be aspect configurations, or aspects that involve angular planets).

why are you focusing on dominant planets? this will not help you understanding of the basics OR change your life.
Posting DATA like this in a list which is incomplete, is really not that helpful to us Prof Astrologers and on its own and actually means very little. That’s because only 1/3 of the information needed to respond properly. Then some people post DATA/degrees of planets (slightly better) but then *no signs* these planets are in. Then people post DATA/Degrees/ signs. What this does then, it requires ME (& other astrologers on here) to mentally calculate what aspects these planets make to each other. Which is time consuming and unnecessary, when all that is needed is to SEE the circular natal chart wheel PICTURE. Plus there is always missing data, especially Ascendant/Midheaven signs. You can always block out personal data after downloading your chart picture in Paint.
You can do this by making a Free account on astro.com and click Free Horoscopes tab. Click “Color Horoscope” if you just want to see your dominant planets and aspects. This is a new feature which shows in graph form which planet is dominant.
In Extended Chart selection, under (Methods), the Pullen/Astrology section does not deal or explain dominant planets but gives (sign/house dispositor graph)and under ‘simple delineation by Walter Pullen’ is a list of planets, aspects, midpoints. Personally, I think the astroclick version is better.
this one above just gives dominant element, ie: fire, earth, air water
So if you are a newcomer to astrology, what benefit have you gained from finding your dominant planet? how are you going to use and apply this knowledge in your life? Well, it should aid understanding a small part of your personality, as this is what astrology does in my view, its a form of psychology, know thyself. But really there are far more important things to learn first, like planets in signs/houses/aspects especially, which are the *mainstay* of astrology.
