Is it a bad time to move away right now?
My situation is:
My boyfriend and father of my kids works in a town one hour away. It is a great job that pays a lot and even more when they travel out of state for work. He wants to keep the job. Being an hour away poses a problem. We would like to move closer to his home office.
Now, my oldest boy is in sixth grade. We have moved around a lot before settling here and currently have been in this town, in this house for a year and a half, which is a big deal for us. He has a few friends, although they are definitely not the friends i would like to see him with. We have not been in one place long enough to make friends since 2008. I am primarily concerned with his well being resulting from the move, but he has expressed a desire to go to a better school. I also hate his school. For pysical ed today, they STOOD on the SIDEWALK. Everyone in this city has a horrible, crappy sense of grammar and spelling. And it’s easy to see why because the schools dont emphasize spelling/grammar, and even the damn teachers make stupid mistakes on lists and assignments they send home. If we move, we would be able to pick a neighborhood with an awesome school for him. Maybe even put him in a great private school.
My other child is a five month old boy. So he would be affected very little by the move.
I guess my question is should I move because I really want to and it would benefit their dad’s work situation and save us gas money… Despite the fact that id be uprooting my twelve year old again…

Go for it. Seems like a great choice if you will save gas and your child will go to a better school and have better friends…just don’t make a habit of moving again after this move.

Reading this and if i were u i would say move. Neither u or ur son like his school. And u dont like the type of kids he has made friends with. Plus i bet he misses his father. And i know u prolly miss your boyfriend. So whats keeping u there?

Your son is 12 so he is old enough for you to sit down with him and ask him how he feels about the idea. By the sounds of it you have already decided you want to move and are basically trying to justify your decision.
If you really think the quality of your and your families life will improve as a result of the move, do it.

You should go. Yes, it might hurt your older son (just for a while) but it will also benefit him in the long run. Kids need a good school to learn from and good teachers that know what there doing, lol. He can make new friend, hopefully better than what he has now. I think it will benefit your whole family.

If you can make the move you should do it. I read your question and you do not sound happy where your at now. Plan your next move very carefully so you won’t have to move so often anymore. If your concern is taking him out of school, I don’t think he has a problem with being moved plus he can make new friends at the other school.
