how seriously do the Japanese take the whole blood type thing?
i read an article about blood type on yahoo it seems weird how seriously do they take it?
Answer by Wolfe
Discussion of blood types is widely popular in women’s magazines as a way to gauge relationship compatibility with a potential or current partner. Morning television shows feature blood type horoscopes, and similar horoscopes are published daily in newspapers. Though there is not a proven correlation between blood type and personality, it has still remained in the many matchmaking services that cater to blood type. In this way, it is similar to the use of astrological signs in the west, which is also popular in Japan. Asking about a blood type is common and it is often a surprise if a foreigner does not know his or her own blood type.

I have no idea what so ever what my blood type is. I think the whole blood type thing relating to relationships is a bit weird.

Most of Japanese know there are four blood types such as A, B, AB, O. They also know their own blood type as important personal information for the case of donation or transfusion.
In addition, they enjoy fortunetelling about themselves and compatibilities of temper between them and their friends, lovers, and colleagues.
But they think of it just as one of topics on everyday life, like weather forecast.
Most of them are no cult of blood typists.
(I wouldn’t deny there are some.)

What does studying astrology accomplish?
Horoscopes are always so vague and anyone can read one and say “well that’s me” so what does one actually accomplish from studying astrology? Can anyone actually tell me anything that pertains to only me? Or is it always just general. Like, “uhoh. You’re a ___ I’d better watch out for your temper!”

Studying astrology accomplishes nothing really. There is no proof that the horoscopes actually tell you anything. However, you can read a horoscope and only apply certain things from them, you know as to pick how your day will be.

Obviously a short snip-it in the Sunday paper can’t directly speak to everyone born under your sign. But, if you carefully look at astrology from a broader perspective and take into account all the varying factors that influence you as an individual, you will begin to see how specific it can actually be.
For one thing, always trust your source. Do you really trust some college intern at Cosmo who is still traumatized from the forest fire in “Bambi”? Not unless you’re a furry little rabbit with restless leg syndrome.
It’s helpful to know the time and location of your birth in order to find your Rising and Moon signs as well. These are just as significant as your Sun sign, and the more specific you can be…the more specific you’ll find the answers.
MSN and Yahoo both have good astrology sections which will help you find your rising sign. Once you have that information, I recommend www.astro.com (astrodienst) which has interactive charts and very detailed reports.
I personally had a report from their Interactive Compatibility chart (which is free by the way) warn of the instability and violence that was undeniably present in a current relationship. That seemed fairly specific to me.
There is a great deal to be learned from astrology. Just keep in mind that you have a Will, and because of that Will, nothing and no one can predict the future. That’s not what it’s about. It’s about having a better understanding of who you are and what influences you so that you make the best decisions when using your Will.
